2. Matrix Structure
A matrix is a rectangular array of numbers. It can be single or multiple dimensional. For our purposes, one and two dimensions are sufficient for surveying adjustments. When a matrix name is shown with numeric subscripts, the leading number denotes rows, the following columns: 4[D]3 matrix has 4 rows and 3 columns, it is a 4 x 3 matrix.
