Jerry Mahun is a semi-retired Surveying instructor. After retiring from Madison Area Technical College (MATC, aka, Madison College), in 2014 he began teaching surveying part-time in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UW-Platteville.

Jerry was at MATC 19 years, teaching technical and legal surveying classes as well as basic civil engineering classes. Before MATC, Jerry taught surveying at Penn State/Wilkes-Barre, Purdue University, and UW-Platteville (back where he stated in 1979) and has been presenting seminars and workshops for more than 30 years, He is the 2019 recipient of the National Society of Professional Surveyors' Earl J. Fennell Award for Outstanding Contributions and Education in Surveying and Mapping.

Jerry is a Wisconsin Professional Surveyor and holds memberships in WLIA, and WSLS. Jerry has served as a WSLS Director at Large, on the WSLS Foundation Board, numerous WSLS committees, and the State Cartographers Advisory Committee. He currently serves on Wisconsin Spatial Reference 2022 Task Force
